"Australian Pump
Technical Handbook"

A$75.35 including Australian
delivery
The new fourth edition of "Australian Pump Technical Handbook" is now
available and includes a number of new chapters together with updated text
and diagrams. This publication is a recognised text at most Universities,
Colleges and TAFEs in Australia for the teaching of pumping technology.
Published by Pump Industry Australia Incorporated, this 4th edition of the
Handbook brings together existing pump knowledge into a practical first
reference for those involved in the selection and operation of all types
of pumping equipment and pumping systems.
Topics covered include definitions, materials, pump characteristics,
selection and operation. Information on the design of pumping systems is
also included, complete with sample calculations of friction loss and net
positive suction head. Additional chapters are devoted to installation,
commissioning, pump testing, conversion factors and pumping formulae.
The Handbook has been prepared by a team of experts from Australia's
leading pump manufacturers with the non-technical person in mind. However,
the scope and thorough treatment given to the subject matter will also
satisfy more educated pump users. As such, the "Australian Pump Technical
Handbook" will be a valued addition to the libraries of all pump users.
"PIA Pipe Friction
Handbook"

A$85.25 incl. Australian delivery
The revised 248 page Third Edition became available in February 2008. It
includes new tables and a wider range of pipe materials and sizes
The "PIA Pipe Friction Handbook" is published in hard cover and is
designed for engineers and others concerned with the efficient design and
operation of pumps and piping systems.
The Handbook presents tables of cold water friction loss in pipes and
fittings in a clear readable format in metric units for virtually all
types of commercially available pipe. Extensive additional tables covering
viscous liquids are also included. Detailed guidance in the use of the
tables is provided through worked examples for those not familiar with
friction loss calculation.
The Handbook includes comprehensive additional information on irrigation,
hydraulic power transmission, liquid properties and extensive unit
conversion tables.
"Toss of a Coin by
Robert Moore"

A$32.50 incl. Australian delivery
This book is a must read for anybody with an interest in the Australian
Pump Industry from the early 1960's to the present day.
In his memoir, Toss of a Coin, Bob Moore reflects on how chance events
effected his career. He gives a colourful account of his thirty years in
the pump manufacturing Industry both in Australia and the United Kingdom.
After working with Mather and Platt owned Kelly & Lewis in Victoria, he
transferred to the UK to head up the parent company's world wide pump
operations - only for Mather & Platt to be taken over by the Australian
company, Wormald Limited. In 1980 Bob joined the SPP Group and in 1983 he
led a management buy-out of that company.
Bob Moore laments the gradual decline of the centrifugal pump
manufacturing industry in Australia, largely caused by the phased
abolition of protective tariffs and the consequent influx of cheaper
imported pumps. He is also critical of the lack of technical training
facilities for engineering tradesmen. As he notes "now in 2006 we are not
only importing pumps but skilled tradesmen as well".
This book is a true
bargain at $32.50 including postage within Australia.

"Cameron Hydraulic
Data"
Preface to the Ninteenth Edition (1st Printing)

A$95.00 including Australian delivery
The Cameron Hydraulic Data Book is a Flowserve Corporation publication and
as in the eighteenth editions, is published as an aid to engineers
involved with the selection and application of pumping equipment.
The nineteenth edition includes a Pump Selection Guide (Section 11) which
matches the comprehensive worldwide product line of Flowserve Corporation
with a sampling of major markets served. This selection mainly helps the
user determine which pump types are generally applied to various fluid
pumping applications. In addition, a number of minor modifications,
corrections and clarifications initiated by users and the editor have been
made throughout the book.
To facilitate locating the desired data, a detailed index is provided in
the rear of the book (Section 10). It should be noted that for convenient
reference this index is arranged in two parts; first a general index with
items listed alphabetically, page 10-2 through 10-10, and secondly, an
Index of Liquids arranged alphabetically, page 10-11 through page 10-14.
Frequent reference to this index is suggested for quickly locating the
information desired.
